Kingfisher plc is Europe’s largest home improvement retail group and the third largest in the world, with over 1,030 stores in eight countries in Europe and Asia. Its main retail brands are B&Q, Castorama, Brico Dépôt, Screwfix.
Kingfisher also has a 50% joint venture business in Turkey with Koç Group, and a 21% interest in, and strategic alliance with Hornbach, Germany’s leading large format DIY retailer. Kingfisher plc is included in two of the main socially responsible investment indexes – the FTSE4Good and Dow Jones Sustainability indexes.
Kingfisher's purpose is to make it easier for customers to have better and more sustainable homes. In October 2012 Kingfisher officially launched a new corporate responsibility plan called ‘Kingfisher Net Positive’. It commits Kingfisher to a new challenge: to go beyond sustainability, to no longer strive for neutrality but to seek to make a positive contribution to the world's future. Their philosophy is that they should eventually be able to put more back than they take out - to be ‘net positive’.
