Pitched Roof Insulation is an approved Green Deal and ECO measure under the Building Fabric Measures category.
What is Pitched Roof Insulation?
When it comes to fitting Pitched Roof Insulation, there are two options; warm loft insulation and cold loft insulation.
Cold Loft Insulation for Pitched Roofs
It is known as cold loft insulation as the roof may not be insulated itself, perhaps leaving loft space a little cooler in the winter time. The living space underneath however, will be insulated and kept warm. To fit this type of Pitched Roof Insulation, an installer would insulate between and over the wooden joists directly above the ceiling of a properties top floor.
Warm Loft Insulation for Pitched Roofs
This form of loft insulation is an option for those who may be using their loft space, as living space for example. For a warm roof, the insulation should be installed underneath the rood in the plane of the pitch. The roof will not get too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter and is a great prevention of heat loss.
