The Green Deal launched in 2013. By becoming a Green Deal Installer you will be at the forefront of demand covering more than 50 different energy efficiency measures such as; Cavity Wall Insulation, Double Glazing, Gas Boilers, Loft Insulation and Renewables.
Green Deal Installer
Supported by the £1.3bn Energy Company Obligation (ECO), the Green Deal concentrates on the retrofitting of both domestic and commercial properties. It is estimated that around £21bn in capital spending will take place by 2022. Only a certified Green Deal Installer can install energy efficiency improvements under the Green Deal scheme, and by being compliant with the Green Deal Installer Standard - PAS 2030, an installer is also able to work under ECO.
Green Deal Certification
The four main types of measures covered under Green Deal are;
- Building Fabric Measures (BFM) - Insulations, Glazing, Doors etc.
- Building Services Mechanical (BSM) - Boilers, Heating Systems etc.
- Building Services Electrical (BSE) - Lighting, Lighting Controls etc.
- Microgeneration - Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Heat Pumps etc.
In order to achieve Green Deal Installer Certification, a prospective Green Deal Installer must be assessed on a number of areas;
- Compliance with Green Deal Standards including; PAS 2030 and the Green Deal Code of Practice
- The competency of operatives within the organisation to Green Deal competency requirements
- An Installation or example of work of the relevant Green Deal Measure
