What is PAS 2030?
PAS 2030 is a publicly available standard which sets out the requirements of the installation of energy efficient measures such as Gas Condensing Boilers, Insulation, and LED Lighting.
-
Why do I need PAS 2030 Certification?
PAS 2030 certification is required to be a part of several Government and Private schemes to improve the energy efficiency of homes. The Energy Company Obligation (ECO), The Green Deal Finance Scheme and other similar schemes will require an installer to be PAS 2030 Certified to take part.
-
What do I need to become PAS 2030 certified?
You need to be trained sufficiently to install your chosen measure(s) and have a PAS2030 compliant Quality Management System (QMS). You must demonstrate that you can install your chosen measure (s), and complete the correct documentation for an installation that comply with the requirements in the PAS 2030. You will have to have an assessment from a Certification Body, based on the above criteria.
-
What is a Quality Management System?
A Quality Management System (QMS) is a series of documents and procedures that sets out how you will operate as a business to comply with certain requirements. We will design a fully bespoke QMS for you which complies to the regulations and requirements set out in PAS 2030.
-
What is a certification body?
Certification Bodies carry out assessments on companies looking to be PAS 2030 certified. They issue the certificates and will assure you meet the requirements. They will also carry out yearly audits on the company to ensure that you are still compliant.
-
Do I need to have an installation done before my assessment?
Yes. You will either need a completed installation that was installed in the last 12 months or a work-in-progress installation (for measures like External Wall Insulation). You will need to liaise with your certification body to find out what kind of installation they will want to see.
-
How long will it take to get certified?
We normally say that the average time to become certified is 4-6 weeks. This is the normal waiting time for an assessment with a certification body.
-
Will I have to take time out of work to prepare?
You shouldn’t need to. You can prepare in your own time and work at it when you can. We would normally say it will take 6-8 hours of focus time to complete our training program but you can take as long as you need.
-
Does my support stop after I get certified?
No. We then move you onto our On-Going Support package. The QMS is still available and your consultant will be on hand to assist with any questions you may have. We support you for as long as you need us.
-
Does each employee in the company need PAS 2030 certification?
No. The Certification lies with the company and not the individual.
-
What is Green Deal?
Green Deal is a government initiative that was designed to help business and home owner to install energy efficiency measures in their properties at no upfront cost to the individual or business, instead thecost is taken from the energy savings via the energy bill.
-
What is ECO and how do I access funding?
ECO is the Energy Company Obligation scheme it is a government initiative that focuses on energy efficiency to reduce carbon emission. According to OFGEM ‘Under the scheme, larger energy suppliers have to deliver energy efficiency measures to homes in Great Britain.
Suppliers are given targets based on their share of the domestic gas and electricity market.
The scheme focuses on the installation of insulation and heating measures and supports vulnerable consumer groups’.
